OS1 Booth

I have chosen to do a booth for a fictional product from one of my favourite movies of all time, Her. Her is a movie about a man falling in love with an Artificial Intelligence named Samantha. Theodore, the main character communicates with Samantha through a device called OS1, which would be the product my booth would be based around. 

In the movie, the AI evolved until it became an all knowing entity that could present all of the knowledge in the world in mere seconds and even communicate with the dead. OS1 has also became a force that could push society to become a utopia, it was shown in the movie that the device has made Theodore’s work and life much more efficient and the AI became a companion that gave purpose and happiness for Theodore.

Unlike other futuristic movies, where the worlds are a dystopian mess, Her is much more hopeful as it predicts that technology would work hand in hand with humans to better society and the world shown in the movie is beautiful, clean and convenient for its inhabitants.  

From my interpretations, OS1 is the device that could bring the world to Utopia, which is very similar to God bringing His people to heaven. Thus the concept of the booth would be based around the idea of God and Heaven.

A lot of art throughout humanity has depicted heaven and god, as a very bright light, where god would be in the centre of a large circle of angels and followers.

Other than the religious imagery I have included in this booth, I would want to blend this idea with the intellectuality of an Apple Store, to blend the first idea with technology.

Final Design

The idea of the booth is that, I wanted a booth for users to try out the product in a way that allows them to experience the AI first hand, Thus, I have decided to provide phone booths that would give users a chance to speak with OS1. The design of the product was based on the device used throughout the film.

Promotional Poster

For the first promotional poster for the booth, I wanted to foreshadow the design and architecture of the booth, hence the use of the colour wheel in the poster.

As I could not possibly dictate design trends of the future, I decided to go for a timeless aesthetic for the overall design of the poster; implementing legible and practical design elements of the poster.

As for the second promotional poster, I tried to communicate the technological evolution that mankind is progressing towards with this new device. Thus, I have used a silhouette of men walking; a metaphor of humankind progressing with OS1 being implemented together in their lives.
